This map portrays a time before the start of the rise of any of the four nations. The reason being was that it was just too plain, and in my mind, I see the Fire-Nation as a nation that used up and burned down most of the native jungles and forests on their island to expand their nation. While looking at the reference map, you may notice I've placed quite a bit of jungle in the western most part despite it being barren on the map. Here are some pictures of the map so far, with some explanations of surroundings and justification for certain changes.įor all you non Avatar Last Airbender/Legend of Korra geeks, here is a map of the 4 nations as seen in the TV show.įirst up on the world tour is the Fire Nation! The Fire-Nation Capitol took quite a few attempts to design, but this is the best balance for decent growth (without stagnation) while also retaining a super-defensive location in a meteorite crater surrounded by mountains. City States are mostly placed on outerlying islands.with some exceptions. I'll also make a version with random civ's and starting placements. This world map really works well for certain civilizations.some of the starting spots are just perfect for their play-style/terrain bias (as you will see shortly). I plan to make a few versions of the map, with different civilizations in specific starting spots.

It is 128*80 hexes (full size Huge map) and is heavily detailed. After seeing another last airbender mod which came with civilizations and a smaller version of the world, I decided to make my own. Radster's Avatar Last Airbender Huge World Map is a huge 128*80 map of the world featured in the "Avatar the Legend of Aang" and "Legend of Korra" universes. Their cuisine is also Japanese-inspired as are many of the characters’ names who live there.UPDATE The map pack has now been uploaded to the steam workshop! Check it out here! The Kyoshi warriors wear Japanese armor and paint their faces in designs reminiscence of Kabuki, classical Japanese dance drama. Regions like Kyoshi Island, however, resemble feudal Japan. Ba Sing Se, surrounded by high walls, may also resemble Constantinople, the capital of the Roman Empire which also saw large numbers of refugees during times of war. The emperor and people’s garb appears to be of the Qing dynasty with various Korean influences as well. The capital city, Ba Sing Se, resembles Beijing and the royal palace therein is based on the Forbidden City. In particular, the kingdom takes inspiration from the Chinese Ming and Qing dynasties, the last imperial dynasties before the Republic of China. Most generally, the setting may be considered “Eurasia.”

The Earth Kingdom is probably the most complex and historically elaborate of any of the Avatar settings, containing cities inspired by everything from later Chinese dynastic periods to Shogun Japan to the Roman Empire.
